How to apply
The following requirements have to be met in order to take part in the International Pre-Study Course at the Hochschule Bremen.
Entry requirements:
- Minimum age: 18
- General university entry qualification / High school diploma
- Sufficient knowledge of the English language – Level B2*
- Documented evidence of general university entry examination of the home country, if applicable
- Documented evidence of successfully completed years of study at a home university, if applicable
- Secured funding for your studies in Germany
- Student visa for a language course
- Documented evidence of insurance (health- , casualty- and liability insurance)
Applicants for Course B should note the following:
- Course B – entry requirements here include knowledge of the German language – at least level B1*
- Proof of the required knowledge of German by means of:
- the Certificate of the Goethe-Institute - Goethe Zertifikat B1 or
- Abitur (University entry examination) at a German School abroad or
- the appropriate proof from an acknowledged educational institution/language school
*CEFR– Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Course A:
- for all applicants: 10th of September 2011 / 10th of September 2012
Course B:
- for all applicants: 1st of May 2011 / 1st of May 2012

- 2 passport size photographs
- complete photocopy of the passport
- photocopy of the university entry qualification/ the highschool leaving diploma
- English language qualification– Level B2 (CEFR)
- Only for applicants of Course B: German language qualificaton Level B1 (CEFR)
- Documented evidence of general university entry examination of the home country, if applicable
- Documented evidence of successfully completed years of study at a home university, if applicable
- Documented evidence of insurance (health- , casualty- and liability insurance) – to be presented at least one month before the start date of the course
Please note the following:
Do not send in original documents. For all of the above mentioned photocopies/ certificates/ transcripts etc. which have not been issued in Germany a certified translation of the original document (in its original language) has to be enclosed.

You will receive a confirmation if your place on the Pre-Study-Course has been booked.
This confirmation will contain information regarding the date for which the fees for the Pre-Study-Course are payable.

Upon receipt of the full payment of the tuition fees a confirmation of your matriculation will be sent to you.

The aforementioned confirmation of matriculation enables you to apply for a visa (student visa) at the German embassy, or the responsible consulate respectively, in your home country. They will also provide you with up-to-date information about further documents which might be required for your visa application.
6.
The documented evidence of insurance for your stay in Germany has to be handed in one month prior to the start date of the Pre-Study-Course at the latest.
Please note:
- Upon receipt of the confirmation the tuition fees are to be transferred in full to the aforementioned account including the name of the applicant. ALL CHARGES INCURRED FOR THE TRANSFER/BANKING CHARGES ARE ON YOUR ACCOUNT!
- Apply for your visa in time. Please make an inquiry at the German embassy, or consulate respectively, in advance concerning the estimated processing time for your visa. The start date of the course is fixed. Please ensure that you arrive in Bremen in good time for the start of the course.
